Webber Architects was engaged for the delivery of the state-or-the-art South Tamworth Fire Station for Fire & Rescue NSW, which has now commenced on site.  Designed to be the leading facility in regional NSW and will include the Regional North Zone Office equipped with training facilities, gym, amenities, and a dual engine bay.  Other fire station projects completed by Webber include Mount Druitt, Lambton, Sandy Point, and Abermain.

The new facility in Ringers Road replaces the old station in West Tamworth, which served the surrounding communities for more than 50 years.

The modern facility is one of FRNSW’s biggest and will allow the 20 permanent and 18 on-call local firefighters to protect their community well into the future.  It features four engine bays, an open plan
area with eight workstations, a conference room in the Zone Office that can seat over 30 people that can be used as an emergency operations centre and a strike team co-ordination base.

It also has a number of sustainability features such as water tanks that run the toilets and irrigate the native plant garden, solar panels, and
gender-appropriate facilities such as separate lockers and private amenities. It is also protected throughout the building by sprinklers.

Having the Regional North 3 Zone management team also stationed at the new South Tamworth Station will improve Zone-wide coordination for a wide range of emergency incidents, enhancing our services at a local and Zone level.
