Webber was engaged to transform the heritage-listed Old Picton Post Office into a contemporary 24/7 smart hub for co-working, training and community enterprise. The project balances preservation of the historic fabric with the introduction of modern amenities, ensuring the building continues to serve the community into the future.
Flexible work zones were created using durable, low-maintenance finishes, while new lighting and climate systems provide comfort and energy efficiency within the building’s original masonry shell. A new circulation core with lift and stair delivers equitable access to all levels, ensuring inclusivity for every user.
Finishes were carefully selected to articulate the transition between heritage and contemporary: matte textures, neutral tones and perforated steel mesh sit in subtle contrast with the historic material palette. Natural light and original spatial volumes were maximised to create a functional interior that respects the building’s heritage character.
The result is a dignified civic space that blends history with innovation — a future-ready hub for collaboration, enterprise and community connection.
