Bar Beach Residential Alterations and Additions

This project involved the renovation and extension of a coastal home overlooking Bar Beach, NSW. The sloping 612m² site originally contained a three-storey dwelling with an attached rear outbuilding, which was removed to allow for a new pavilion-style addition.
The three-storey extension to the south and rear complements the existing home’s scale and character while taking advantage of the site’s slope to minimise visual impact from the street. Internally, the layout was simplified to improve functionality, natural light, and circulation throughout.
The design maximises ocean and city views while providing protection from harsh coastal conditions. Framed openings capture key outlooks and sea breezes, balancing privacy, light, and connection to the surrounding landscape.
