Jay Sunnam

Project Leader

Bachelor of Design (Architecture)

As a registered Architect and Project Leader, I oversee projects from start to finish. My responsibilities include project planning, resource management, ensuring the quality of design and documentation, liaising with clients and consultants, and managing the team to maintain timelines and healthy relationships.

Career Journey: I arrived in Sydney in 1998 and became a registered architect in 2003. My career has spanned various sectors, including rail projects, hospitals, aged care projects, and residential units. I joined Webber in 2022 with the aim of progressing to a role where I could oversee the complete building procurement process and team management.

Passion & Achievements: What I enjoy most about my job is seeing my sketches become reality and witnessing people use the buildings with pride. The process of transforming an initial concept into a tangible structure is incredibly fulfilling. I am passionate about innovation in building designs, exploring new materials, technologies, and methodologies to enhance aesthetics and functionality. Collaboration with clients, consultants, engineers, and builders enriches the design process and leads to well-rounded solutions. Knowing our designs positively impact communities and the environment is a powerful motivator and source of pride in my profession.

Personal Interests and Hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy playing badminton, listening to classical music, and taking Saturday morning walks to explore new areas.

Future Goals: In the future, I aim to focus more on quality, streamline past mistakes, and expand our practice into India, leveraging my contacts and pursuing new opportunities.
