The Development Application for Wollondilly Library (Picton branch) has now been lodged with Wollondilly Shire Council. The application involves refurbishment of a 1970’s civil building which is currently being used as the library. The new design allows for a customised space to meet the changing needs of the library and provides a civic hearth to Menangle Street Picton.
Wollondilly Library (Picton branch) is the heart of the Shire’s network providing electronic and paper-based resources and administration for the 17 library locations in the shire. Last year, the library served 60 000 people, loaned over 100 000 items, hosted over 800 events attended by over 10 000 participants, and purchased over 4000 new items.
The new design includes a loading bay for the library’s 2 mobile library vans that serve the community and a multipurpose function room that, in case of emergency, will act as the region’s Emergency Operations Centre.
Next time you are in the south of Sydney, take the 7 minute detour off the freeway and pop in to see the building and meet the staff!
Webber Architects is proud to provide this new design for the library.
