Ourimbah Information Resource Common Extension

Entered in the NSW / ACT Public and Commercial Buildings Category.

This project was an extension and modification of the Ourimbah Campus Library at the Univerity of Newcastle. The primary philosophy was to strenghten its presence and reflect on the previous use of the site within the bushland setting. The site’s history, formerly a timberyard, became an inherent part of the design philosophy for the new extension.

The Australian Hardwood interiors match the external screening and reflect the textures and palettes of the surrounding bushland which are strengthened by using the same timbers in the external furniture which surround the quadrangle.
