Electric Vehicle Training Centre

Location

Wetherill Park NSW
Webber was engaged as Head Design Consultant to transform the automotive body painting workshop at TAFE NSW Wetherill Park into a state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle (EV) Training Centre. The project involved the complete demolition of outdated infrastructure and the creation of modern, industry-grade spaces equipped for both light and heavy EV training. The new facility provides fit-for-purpose learning environments that align with current and future industry needs. Specialist EV equipment was integrated into the design to give students and apprentices hands-on experience with diagnostics, servicing and repair. By investing in this facility, TAFE NSW is supporting the growing EV sector and reinforcing its leadership in sustainable technical education.
Our role covered the full design lifecycle — from concept and documentation through to delivery. We managed a multi-disciplinary consultant team, ran design workshops with TAFE Infrastructure, Skills Networks, staff and industry partners, and balanced project scope, budget and timeframes. Compliance with TAFE’s Sustainable Design Standards guided every stage, ensuring reduced environmental impact, operational efficiency and healthy learning environments. The EV Training Workshop now serves students, apprentices and industry partners alike — providing a pipeline of skilled technicians for the automotive sector, supporting climate action, and setting a benchmark for future EV facilities across the TAFE network.
