Webber was engaged to enhance the Cellar Door at Bonvilla Estate, enriching the visitor experience while preserving the charm and integrity of the existing building. The design introduced a private tasting room at the northern end, using the original fireplace as a defining element that retains the rustic character of the space. To strengthen the connection to the surrounding vineyard, a new doorway and elevated deck were proposed on the eastern side, offering panoramic views and creating an immersive setting for tastings and gatherings. A small internal kitchenette was added to support food service, with provision for an outdoor pizza oven to broaden the culinary offering.
Practical improvements included reconfiguring storage through use of the mezzanine, reviewing fire safety requirements, and addressing amenities and car parking in line with council regulations. The adjacent two-storey tourist accommodation was retained in its original form, ensuring the estate’s character and heritage remained intact. The result is a Cellar Door that harmonises modern hospitality with rural charm — a welcoming and memorable space that deepens the visitor’s connection to Bonvilla’s wine, food and landscape.
