South Tamworth NSW
Webber was engaged by Fire & Rescue NSW to deliver the new state-of-the-art South Tamworth Fire Station – a leading facility for regional NSW that serves as both a local station and the Regional North Zone Office. The new building replaces the ageing West Tamworth Station, which supported the community for more than 50 years.
The modern facility includes four engine bays, an open-plan administration area, conference and training rooms, gym, and amenities. The Zone Office features eight workstations and a 30-seat conference space that can function as an emergency operations centre and strike team coordination base. Designed for flexibility and resilience, the station supports 20 permanent and 18 on-call firefighters, enhancing both local response capability and regional coordination. Sustainability was integral to the design. Water tanks supply toilets and irrigation for native landscaping, while solar panels reduce operational energy use. The station also includes gender-appropriate facilities with separate lockers and private amenities, ensuring inclusivity and comfort for all staff. Fire safety systems, including full sprinkler protection, enhance the building’s durability and long-term performance.
The new South Tamworth Fire Station represents a significant investment in community safety, providing a future-ready facility that strengthens emergency response and operational efficiency across the region.
